Vintage indigenous pottery trinket box

Such an unassuming well executed ceramic box from first glance. Then you open it!
This puppy is signed but by whom? I know not...
Have had this box for a long time so putting it up as vintage. 

Condition: There is what appears to be a dent to the rim of the lid. I'm not sure if it's a chip or that that is the way it was made.
