Trevor Pitt - Mt Gambier Pottery Display Plate - Blue Sky range

Rock from Mt Shank was used to make the glaze for this delightful display plate.

Just look at the distinctive separation of azure lake to rose pink sky. Beautiful.

Trevor Pitt, a well-known South Australian potter who established his studio, "The Claypitt," in Mount Gambier, South Australia during the late 1970s.

Pitt developed a technique of applying oxide brushwork and translucent slips to ceramic surfaces. This process creates distinct strata, cascade effects, and organic texturing that beautifully simulate coastal landscapes, sea movements, and rolling horizons. 

The vibrant blue tones, gradients, and natural textures, this signature colour way was directly inspired by the famous Blue Lake in Mount Gambier. 
He frequently accentuated his wheel-thrown landscape pieces with a rich, distinctive gold lustre rim.
