Founded in 1953 by Dagmar and Miloslav Kratochvil, Ellis Ceramics began as a small pottery workshop in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne. After moving to a commercial property in Carlton passionate potters Dagmar and Miloslav ramped up their output of quality functional and figurative pottery during the late 1950s through to the 1970s. Despite closing in the late 70's Ellis pottery remains a notable example of successful pottery craftsmanship.
This stunning piece of unmarked Ellis is iconic. I'm sorry to see it go but go it must. It did have the remnants of a sticker when I first acquired it but that fell of somewhere along the road.
The jug does have one miniscule nibble to the rim of the base but as per usual please see the photo that I have included. Other than that, no crazing, cracks or issues. It's one sturdy piece of craftsmanship.
