Let’s have a quick chat about Czech glass and online forums

If it wasn’t for online forums I wouldn’t have been able to ID this particular vase. It often pays to join these fabulous Meta/Facebook groups to help gather information on your own pieces.

The vase that I’ve been researching: a Vintage 1960s Czech Glass Vase - Jana Gabrhel design - Chlum u Třeboně - series ‘Rustikal’ 13333/07481 (bit of a mouthful)

This wonderful 1960s (1969) piece (series ‘Rustikal’) is by famous Czech glass designer Jana Gabrhel (1930-2017). Designed by J.G for Chlum u Třeboně Glass. A Czechoslovakian glass company.

This vase is from the "Rustikal" collection, (a series of 6), and consists of thick blown moulded glass.

There is a pontil mark to the base. Quite a rare find, especially here in Tasmania.

I have a number of Sklo vases (Scandi) and it’s often difficult, particularly with glass, to get an accurate ID unless it’s a well-known design. So, join groups, immerse yourself and enjoy the investigation!

(I’m relying on Google translate for language translation for some info - apologies in advance if I’m not super accurate.)

Let's hear from you about your glass finds.
